Mohammed Nasim played robust role in bringing AL to power: Murad

SIRAJGANJ, June 13, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Md Murad Hassan today said veteran politician Mohammed Nasim was one of the commanders to bring the Awami League to the power in Bangladesh in 1996.

“Ex-coordinator of the Awami League-led 14-party alliance and former minister Mohammed Nasim was one of the commanders to bring the Awami League to power in Bangladesh in 1996 under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina by fighting against anti-liberation forces,” he said.

He said this at a programme organized by Mohammed Nasim Foundation on Kazipur Upazila premises in Sirajganj district on the occasion of the first death anniversary of Nasim.

The contribution of Mohammed Nasim was huge not only in Sirajganj or Kazipur but also in Bangladesh, he said, adding that the name of Nasim is mixed in the vein of the people of Bangladesh.

Expressing deep sorrow over the death of Nasim, he said his demise has caused irreparable loss to the Awami League.

Murad called upon all to work together to fulfill the dream of Nasim regarding AL imbued with the spirit of this late politician.

With Sirajganj District Awami League Vice-President Abu Yusuf Surzo in the chair, the programme was addressed, among others, by Sirajganj-1 constituency lawmaker Tanvir Shakil Joy, son of late Mohammed Nasim, District AL acting president Adv K M Hossain Ali Hasan, Acting general Secretary Abdus Samad Talukder and Municipality Mayor Syed Abdur Rahman Mukta.
