Two soldiers killed in IS attack on police station in eastern Libya

TRIPOLI, July 24, 2018 (BSS/Xinhua) – Islamic State (IS) terrorists on
Tuesday attacked a police station in the town of Agila near the eastern
Libyan city of Ajdabiya, some 120 km west of Benghazi, killing two army
soldiers and injuring four others.

“Clashed took place with terrorists in a valley south of the city. Two
people were killed and four others were wounded. All of them are army
soldiers,” a source of Ajdabiya security directorate said in a statement.

“The military operations chamber of Ajdabiya is searching the west and
south of the city, after receiving information about the movements of
terrorists,” it said, adding that communications are still missing with some
army soldiers who were in the station during the attack.

IS terrorists have repeatedly attacked Ajdabiya with car bombs and suicide
attacks on military and security checkpoints.

Two soldiers of the eastern-based army were killed in May in a suicide
attack on a military checkpoint near Ajdabiya.

Since the beginning of the year, IS attacks on security checkpoints and
government buildings have increased.
