COVID-19 cases reach 39,614 with 606 afresh in Khulna

KHULNA, June 13, 2021 (BSS) – With detection of 606 new positive cases in all ten districts of the division, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients now hit 39,614 till this noon.

A total of 33,012 have been cured from the lethal virus and the recovery rate now stands at 83.33 percent, Assistant Director for Khulna health division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS.

The total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 39,614 with 606 new positive cases were reported after testing 1,826 samples at the Khulna Medical College Laboratory and two other COVID-19 laboratories here in last 24 hours till this noon.

Of the total new positive cases, 145 were detected in Jashore followed by 118 in Khulna, 74 in Kustia, 55 in Bagerhat, 52 in Satkhira, 51 in Jhenidah, 37 in Chuadanga, 34 in Narail, 23 in Meherpur, 17 in Magura, she added

Among the corona infected patients, 33,012 have recovered and 719 died while the rest are undergoing treatment, Dr. Ferdousi continued.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities stands at 719 in the division with eight more death was reported on Saturday.

Of the new fatalities, four are in Jashore, one each in Khulna, Kustia, Jhenidah and Satkhira in the division.

The district-wise break-up of the death is 193 in Khulna, 130 in Kushtia, 89 in Jashore, 64 in Chuadanga, 58 in Jhenidah, 57 in Bagerhat, 52 in Satkhira, 27 in Narail, 26 in Meherpur and 23 in Magura.

“The average casualty rate now stands at 1.81 percent in the division,” Dr. Sultana mentioned.

On the other hand, a total of 529 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 232 others were released in the division over the last 24 hours till 12 this noon.

A total of 80,255 people had, so far, been kept under home quarantine and isolation at hospital.

Of them, 78,592 have, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period and 65,061 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division.
