Bangladesh shows zero tolerance on terrorism: Tofail

DHAKA, July 24, 2018 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed has said Bangladesh shows zero tolerance to any acts of terrorism.

The minister passed the remarks during a bilateral meeting with Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Hiroshige Seko in Tokyo, said a ministry release today.

Expressing sorrow for the killing of Japanese citizens in an attack on the Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan in 2016, Tofail told the Japanese minister that: “Law enforcing agencies have already submitted charge-sheet over the attack to the court after investigation.”

He said Bangladesh didn’t witness recurrence of such an incident due to appropriate measures taken by the government, adding the law enforcement situation in Bangladesh is very good now.

The commerce minister told the Japanese minister that Bangladesh would be happy if Japan lifts the travel alert for its citizens.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Rabab Fatema, FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mahiuddin, BGMEA President M Siddiqur Rahman, LFMEAB vice president M Nazmul Hasan, BGMEA director Munir Hossain, Farmers Bank Chairman Chowdhury Nafiz Sarafat, additional secretary M Obaidul Azam and other members of the business delegation were present.
