RANGPUR, June 13, 2021 (BSS)–Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 seized 49.50 kilograms of smuggled ganja and arrested a presumed drug trader with a private car from Gobindaganj Bazar point under Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district on Saturday afternoon.
The arrested person was identified as Md Anwar Hossain, 26, of Cumilla district.
“On a tip-off, an operational team of the RAB-13 set up a check-post at Gobindaganj point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway and challenged the private car,” said a press release issued today by Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 Flight Lieutenant Mahmud Bashir Ahmed.
After searching the suspected private car, the elite force arrested the drug trader and seized the vehicle, contraband ganja, one mobile phone set and cash money from his possession.
During primary interrogation, the arrested person admitted that he had been involved in trading drugs for a long time.
“After filing a case in this connection against the arrested person, the elite force handed over him to Gobindaganj Police Station,” the release added.
