86 more reported Covid-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 12, 2021 (BSS) – Eighty-six more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive at two laboratories today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising hastily during the last few days.

“The 86 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 22.87 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 22.34 percent on Friday, 26.04 percent on Thursday, 31.25 percent on Wednesday, 32.03 percent on Tuesday, 28.79 percent on Monday and 23.98 percent on Sunday last in the division.

Among the 86 new patients diagnosed today, 44 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 44 new patients include 23 from Rangpur, 13 from Kurigram, two from Lalmonirhat, four from Gaibandha and one each from Dinajpur and Nilphamari districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonight.

On the other hand, 42 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 42 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 39 from Dinajpur and one each from Thakurgaon, Panchagarh and Nilphamari districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 20,164 as 86 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 20,164 patients currently stands at 5,226 in Rangpur, 856 in Panchagarh, 1,613 in Nilphamari, 1,169 in Lalmonirhat, 1,312 in Kurigram, 1,916 in Thakurgaon, 6,266 in Dinajpur and 1,804 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
