18 sessions to feature 3-day DC conference

DHAKA, July 24, 2018 (BSS) – A total of 18 sessions will be held in the three-day Deputy Commissioners (DC) conference which began here today.

“The Deputy Commissioners will participate in eighteen sessions of this three-day conference and get an opportunity to convey field level problems and potentials directly to the highest policy making level,” said the cabinet secretary while participating at the inaugural function here.

“In a nutshell, this conference is a bridge between the field-level officers – the DCs – and the top government bodies which helps the overall progress of the government’s work at district level,” he added.

On occasions, they also play the role of returning officers during polls when the Election Commission has a shortage of manpower.

On the first day, five more sessions were held where officials of different ministries and divisions exchanged views with the deputy commissioners. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the conference at Shapla Hall of her Tejgaon office this morning.
