NETRAKONA, June 12, 2021(BSS)-Speakers at a view-exchange meeting here today underscored the need for building massive awareness for ensuring safe movements of all kinds of water-vessels including mechanized boats in the waterways of the country.
They also laid emphasis on proper implementation of different action plans or programs undertaken by the government to avert the naval accidents in the country’s water ways including the haor areas.
Modan upazila administration organized the view-exchange meeting on ‘The Prevention of Naval Accidents’ with the boatmen, trawler drivers and owners of mechanized boats and trawlers at Uchitpur haor tourist center of the upazila today.
Deputy commissioner (DC) Kazi Mohammad Abdur Rahman addressed the meeting as the chief guest while upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Bulbul Ahmed Talukder was in the chair.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by additional district magistrate Suhel Mahmud, president of the upazila Awami League Abdul Kaddus, Uchitput Ghat lease holder Lahot Mia, vice president of Netrakona press club and valiant freedom fighter Haider Jahan Chowdhory, joint secretary of Netrakona press club AKM Abdullah and trawler owner Mizanur Rahman.
Later, DC Kazi Mohammad Abdur Rahman distributed lifesaving materials including life jackets among the boatmen and trawler drivers.
