3,87,740 get second dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 12, 2021 (BSS) – The number of citizens who got the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine reached 3,87,740 in Rangpur division where 90 more people were inoculated today.

Health officials said the 90 citizens, including 56 male and 34 female, all hailing from Rangpur district alone, were inoculated with the second dose of the jab today.

Due to vaccine scarcity, none was vaccinated today in seven other districts of the division where the daily infection rate is rising speedily in recent days.

“The total of 3,87,740 second dose recipient citizens, including 2,46,938 male and 1,40,802 female, previously got the first dose at least two months ago,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali told BSS.

The district-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 3,87,740 citizens stands at 89,449 in Rangpur, 31,753 in Panchagarh, 50,273 in Nilphamari, 27,920 Lalmonirhat, 33,769 in Kurigram, 37,359 in Thakurgaon, 78,830 in Dinajpur and 38,387 in Gaibandha.

Meanwhile, none was vaccinated today with the first dose of the jab since April 26 last in Rangpur division where the number of citizens who got the first dose of the jab remained steady at 5,96,943 people.

Talking to BSS, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu vaccination will resume in all eight districts of the division after the arrival of the jab in the future.
