Govt for innovative solutions for hampered education sector: Speaker

Dhaka, June 10, 2021 (BSS) – Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury today said the government is looking for innovative solutions to take the disrupted education sector forward, if the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic is prolonged.

“Innovative solutions of learning could play an important role in reviving and normalizing the education sector in Bangladesh, as in the rest of the world, educational activities have been disrupted by Corona’s adverse reaction.” Dr Shirin said as the Dutch Ambassador to Bangladesh Harry Verve paid a courtesy call on her at the Parliament secretariat here, said a release.

During the meeting, they discussed economic development and expansion of trade and commerce, COVID-19 vaccine activities, and significant progress of Bangladesh in the field of information technology.

Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said that in the first phase, the government has carried out the vaccine campaign in an orderly manner.

Saying that even though still there is more demand for the vaccine, she hoped that the government will overcome the crisis soon with timely measures, said the release.

Dr Shirin said Sheikh Hasina’s the government has reached relief and cash incentive to every people, announced various stimulus packages, taken prompt health related measures to overcome the onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic on the livelihoods of the people and the economy.

Recalling the continuity of fifty years of good diplomatic relations with Bangladesh, Ambassador Harry Verveway said that the initiatives taken by Bangladesh to keep the pace of trade and commerce normal by tackling COVID-19 was really commendable.

The envoy expressed hope that cooperation between the two neighboring countries would continue on issues of mutual interest.

The Speaker in her reply sought the continued cooperation of the Netherlands in the economic development of Bangladesh and expansion of trade and commerce.
