JS body for bringing all easy bikes under registration system

DHAKA, June 10, 2021 (BSS)- The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges today suggested bringing Nasimon-Karimon easy bikes under registration system by formulating a time-befitting policy to collect revenue.

The committee at its meeting at the Parliament Complex also recommended for removal of speed breakers on the roads and highways.

Chaired by the Committee Chairman Md Ekabbar Hossain, the meeting focused on prevention of all corrupt practices in modernizing BRTA (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority) services with taking necessary steps to fulfill the vacancies in the BRTA.

The meeting was also told to present a list of foreigners, working here in projects of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges at the next sitting.

The JS body also reviewed the implementation progress of the ongoing development projects under the Sylhet Zone of the Roads and Highways Department and discussed in details the future work plan for modernization of BRTA services.

Committee members: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader (virtual), Enamul Haque, Md Hasibur Rahman Swapan, Md Abu Zahir, Rejwan Ahmmad Taufiq, Md Chholim Uddin Tarafder, Sheikh Salahuddin, Syed Abu Hossain and Rabia Alim attended the meeting.

High officials of the ministry, BRTA and BRTC, project director of Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project, director of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel Project, chief engineer of Roads and Highways Department and Parliament Secretariat, among others, were also present there.
