3,87,650 get second dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 10, 2021 (BSS)–The number of citizens who got the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine reached 3,87,650 in Rangpur division where 130 more people were inoculated today.

Health officials said the 130 citizens, including 92 male and 38 female, all hailing from Rangpur district alone, were inoculated today with the second dose of the jab.

Due to vaccine scarcity, none was vaccinated today in seven other districts of Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur and Gaibandha in the division where the daily infection rate is rising rapidly in recent days.

“The total of 3,87,650 second dose recipient citizens, including 2,46,882 male and 1,40,768 female, previously got the first dose at least two months ago,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali told BSS.

The district-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 3,87,650 citizens stands at 89,359 in Rangpur, 31,753 in Panchagarh, 50,273 in Nilphamari, 27,920 Lalmonirhat, 33,769 in Kurigram, 37,359 in Thakurgaon, 78,830 in Dinajpur and 38,387 in Gaibandha.

Meanwhile, none was vaccinated today with the first dose of the jab since April 26 last in Rangpur division where the number of citizens who got the first dose of the jab remained steady at 5,96,943 people.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged people to abide by the health directives to contain further spread of the Covid-19 infection in the division.
