7 more die of Covid-19, 815 test positive in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 10, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 815 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 afresh in all eight districts of the division on Wednesday, climbing the number of infections to 40,560.

Death toll from the disease stands at 623, including 322 in Bogura and 98 in Rajshahi with 62 in its city, while seven more fatalities were reported afresh on the day, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health Dr Talukder.

The new daily infection figure shows a significant escalating trend compared to the previous day’s figure of 641, said the health department sources.

“Among the infected people, 32,775 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 133 new recoveries found on Wednesday,” said Dr Talukder, adding a total of 4,196 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 9,177 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 7,529 have by now been released.

On the other hand, 468 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 90 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 353 were detected in Rajshahi, including 294 in its city, followed by 158 in Chapainawabganj, 96 in Joypurhat, 94 in Naogaon, 62 in Natore, 27 in Pabna, 20 in Sirajganj and 15 in Bogura districts.

With the new detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 11,058 in Rajshahi, including 9,005 in its city, 3,009 in Chapainawabganj, 2,720 in Naogaon, 2,064 in Natore, 2,180 in Joypurhat, 12,464 in Bogura, 3,803 in Sirajganj and 3,280 in Pabna.

A total of 75,278 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 72,223 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

Meanwhile, a total of 4,09,624 people received second doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the city and eight districts of Rajshahi division since the nationwide second dose vaccination began on April 8 last.

Of them, 50 people including 20 females took the second jabs in two districts of the division on Wednesday, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder told BSS.

He said, 40 including 18 females in Chapainawabganj and 10 people including 2 females in Bogura received the vaccines on the day.
