Stocks maintain gaining streak

DHAKA, June 9, 2021 (BSS)–Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 31.90 points or 0.52 per cent to settle at 6,055.05. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 6.64 points to finish at 2,202.63 and 5.70 points closing at 1,296.25.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 27005.545 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 20657.562 million.

Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 369 issues traded, 208 closed green, 124 in the red and 37 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Beximco topped the turnover chart, followed by Lanka Bangla Finance, National Polymar, NFML and Pioneer Insurance.

VFSTDL was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 10 per cent while Federal Insurance was the worst loser, losing 7.39 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI –advancing 84.36 points to settle at 17,515.55 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 50.52 points to close at 10,555.09.

Of the issues traded, 182 advanced, 96 declined and 31 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 3 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 76.53 crore.
