Nasrul calls for motivating more for careful consumption of power and energy

DHAKA, June 8, 2021 (BSS)- State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today called for motivating the consumers to be more careful for consumption of power and energy.

“Consumers need to utilize their electricity and energy efficiently ,” he said while speaking at a workshop titled “National Energy Balance: Bangladesh Perspective” here as the chief guest.

“It is necessary to run a massive campaign by informing the clients and the people about the beneficial aspects and process of saving power and energy, he added.

He said that according to the master plan, the target was set to reduce primary energy consumption by 20% per GDP by 2030 and steps are being taken to update it in due course.

Sustainable And Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) is working on the expansion of renewable energy and efficient and economical use of energy, he said.

The state minister also said that all have to take initiative to increase the per capita power generation to 512 KW hours.

“Our goal is to provide quality and uninterrupted electricity supply,” he added.

Team Leader Consultant and SREDA Adviser Yoshihik Kato presented the keynote speech on ‘National Energy Balance’ on the occasion.

With SREDA Chairman Mohammad Alauddin in the chair, the programme was attended, among others, by Power Secretary Md Habibur Rahman, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Chairman A B M Azad and Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (BEPRC) Chairman Satyajit Karmaker.
