Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

DHAKA, June 8, 2021 (BSS) – Stocks today witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

The major rising sectors were financial institutions, food and allied and insurance. A total of 182 large cap securities moved up on higher activities.

The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 47.26 points up at 6,023.15. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 followed the same trend with 1.12 points up at 1,290.54 and with 0.86 points up at 2,195.98 respectively.

The volume of shares decreased to 62.05 crore from Monday’s 63.40 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at the DSE fell to Taka 20,657.56 million from Monday’s Taka 20,832.81 million.

At the DSE, price of 369 securities out of the day’s 182 closed higher against 144 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Islamic Finance, NHFIL, GEMINISEA, Asian Insurance and Phenix Insurance while the major losing issues were MI Cement, BD Welding, First Finance, GQ Ball Pen and Square Textile.

Beximco topped the turnover leaders followed by Pioneer Insurance, Fortune, Lanka Bangla Finance and NFML.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 113.96 points up at 17,431.18.

At the CSE, 300 issues were traded. Of those, 148 closed higher and 111 closed lower when 2.47 crore shares worth Taka 85.77 crore changed hands.
