673 more people test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 8, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 673 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 afresh in all eight districts of the division on Monday, climbing the number of infections to 39,104.

The daily infection figure shows a significant rising trend compared to the previous day’s figure of 607, said the health department sources.

“Among the infected people, 32,532 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 147 new recoveries found during that time,” said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.

He added that a total of 4,087 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 8,954 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 7,448 have by now been released.

On the other hand, 298 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 121 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

The number of deaths from the disease stands at 609, including 321 in Bogura and 94 in Rajshahi with 60 in its city, while twelve more fatalities reported afresh on Monday, Dr Talukder added.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 299 were detected in Rajshahi, including 258 in its city, followed by 189 in Chapainawabganj, 52 in Joypurhat, 42 in Natore, 36 in Naogaon, 25 in Bogura, 17 in Sirajganj and 13 in Pabna districts.

With the new detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 10,352 in Rajshahi, including 8,411 in its city, 2,786 in Chapainawabganj, 2,538 in Naogaon, 1,940 in Natore, 2,042 in Joypurhat, 12,426 in Bogura, 3,780 in Sirajganj and 3,240 in Pabna.

A total of 74,571 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 72,043 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

Meanwhile, a total of 4,09,510 people received second doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the city and eight districts of Rajshahi division since the nationwide second dose vaccination began on April 8 last.

Of them, 106 people including 34 females took the second jabs in three districts of the division on Monday, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder told BSS.

He said 46 including 18 females in Chapainawabganj, 40 including 10 females in Natore and 20 people including 6 females in Bogura received the vaccines on the day.
