Int’l debate competition titled: “Bangabandhu-Dhaka Int’l Debate Fest for OIC Youth” inaugurated
DHAKA, June 7, 2021 (BSS) – The inaugural programme of Bangabandhu-Dhaka International Debate Fest for the OIC Youth 2021, was formally inaugurated today at Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum in the city, said a press release.
Organized by Bangladesh National Museum under the direct patronization of Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Ministry of Youth and Sports, State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, formally inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.
Youth and Sports Ministry’s senior secretary Mohammad Akhter Hossain and Cultural Secretary M Badrul Arefin were present as the special guests in the programme, presided over by State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid, MP.
President of Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) Taha Ayhan was also present as guest of honor.
Speaking as the chief guest, Russel said: “We hope that through this international debate competition, youths from all over the world will be able to present a joyous debate session with us. By bringing intelligent young people from all over the world through this platform, they will have the opportunity to share culture and knowledge with each other.”
State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid, MP, said recognition of Dhaka as the OIC Youth Capital has made the event more meaningful as part of the year-long celebration of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He said debate develops skills and knowledge that will help debaters enrich their future lives.
The deadline for registration in the competition is from June 7 to 14,2021. The main episode of the competition will start from June 19.
