AL pays homage to Bangabandhu on 6-Point Day

DHAKA, June 7, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) today paid rich tributes to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban on Dhanmondi Road No. 32 here on the historic Six-Point Day.

On June 7, 1966, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the Charter of Liberation of the Bengali Nation.

The AL under the sturdy leadership of Bangabandhu called for a day-long strike against the exploitation and deprivation of central government of the then Pakistan and demanded autonomy by ending its subjugation.

Eleven people, including Manu Mia, Shafiq and Shamsul Haque, became martyred in police and EPR firing in Tongi, Dhaka and Narayanganj during the strike called by AL.

On the occasion of Six-Point Day, on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today paid homage to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Later, he along with party leaders on behalf of AL paid tributes to Bangabandhu by laying a wreath at his portrait.

AL Presidium Members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Shahjahan Khan, Information and Broadcasting Minister and AL Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organizing Secretaries BM Mozammel Haque, Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan, SM Kamal Hossain, Advocate Afzal Hossain and Mirza Azam, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Science and Technology Secretary Abdus Sabur, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan and Central Committee Member Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, among others, were present at that time.

The leaders and activists of AL associate bodies and affiliated organizations including Dhaka Metropolitan North and South AL, Awami Juba League, Awami Swechchhasebak League, Krishak League, Mahila Awami League, Juba Mahila League, Jatiya Sramik League paid homage to the portrait of Father of the Nation.

Besides, various organizations including Bangladesh Chhatra League, Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Juba League, Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Awami Swechchhasebak League, Dhaka University Chhatra League, Dhaka College Chhatra League, Bangabandhu Parishad, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote also paid tribute to Bangabandhu’s portrait.
