Dacoit killed in gun battle in C’nawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 24, 2018 (BSS)- An unidentified dacoit was killed in a gun battle with the members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 at Mohammadpur village under Mobarakpur union in Shibganj upazila of the district early hours today.
Acting on a tip-off, the RAB members were doing their regular patrol duty in the area at around 1:30 am while a gang of dacoits blocked the road with a rope for robbing. As the members of RAB chased them, they started firing on RAB. RAB also made counter fire and at one stage the gang fled away.
After the incident, RAB found a bullet-hit injured person and took him to the Shibganj Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him dead.
The identity of the deceased person could not be known immediately, thesources added.
The RAB also recovered a pistol, a magazine, four rounds of bullet, two large machetes and an iron rod from the spot.
