CHAPAINAWABGANJ, June 6, 2021 (BSS)- A total of 142 more people were tested positive for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours raising the total number of infections to 2,489 in the district.
Dr. Jahid Nazrul Chowdhury, civil surgeon (CS) of Chapainawabganj, said the number of Covid-19 cases rose to 2,489 as 142 more people were reported positive after testing 349 samples at the designated laboratories with infection rate 40.68 percent in the same period.
Among the newly detected patients, 108 from Chapainawabganj sadar upazila, 10 from Shibganj upazila, 13 from Gomostapur upazila and 11 from Nachole upazila.
With the newly detected cases, 971 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at the designated hospitals in the district, he added.
“A total of 1,464 patients including 243 new have so far been recovered from the disease after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period,” the health official said, adding that the death toll from the virus rose to 54.
