5 held with heroin, private car in Rangpur
RANGPUR, June 6, 2021 (BSS) – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested five presumed drug traders and seized 300 grams of heroin and a private car from their possession at Mithapukur upazila in the district on Saturday afternoon.
The arrested are Md Khairul Islam, 37, Most Josnara Begum, 45, Most Nargis Begum, 40 and Most Zakia Begum, 22, of Rajshahi district and Abul Kalam Azad, 36, driver of the private car and a resident of Gaibandha district.
“On a tip-off, an operational team of the RAB-13 set up a check post at Boiragiganj point on the Bogura-Rangpur highway and challenged the private car,” said a press release issued by Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 Flight Lieutenant Mahmud Bashir Ahmed.
After searching the private car, the elite force arrested the five persons and seized 300 grams of contraband heroin, the private car, three mobile phone sets and Taka 6,100 in cash from their possession.
During primary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted their involvement in drug trading in recent times.
“After filing a case in this connection against the arrested people, the elite force handed over them to Mithapukur Police Station in Rangpur,” the release added.
