Six motorcycle lifters held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 6, 2021 (BSS) – Members of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) arrested six members of an organised gang of motorcycle lifters and recovered six stolen motorcycles from their possession on Saturday from the city and other areas.

“Led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) of RpMP and Superintendent of Police Shahidullah Kawser, police officials and forces conducted the operations and also unearthed the motive of the clueless motorcycle lifting cases,” a press release said here today.

RpMP conducted the raids making the best use of technologies to nab the criminals in the wake of a number of cases filed in connections with motorcycle lifting incidents with Rangpur Kotwali Police Station in recent times.

Police arrested Shuvo Ahmmed, 27, of Porshuram area and Shaju Mian, 26, of Dhap Kotkipara area in the city.

As per their confession, the police team also arrested Rabiul Hasan, 27, of Baro Rupai village under Gangachara upazila of Rangpur district and seized a lifted motorcycle from his possession.

Later, police arrested other members of the gang including Abdul Baten Mian, 25, of Moubhasha Munshitari village in Gangachara upazila, Rabiul Islam, 35, of Phulbari upazila in Dinajpur district and Hasan Ali Tuhin, 25, of Rangpur Sadar upazila.

“During the raids, police seized six lifted motorcycles from the arrested members of the motorcycle lifters gang,” the release said, adding that recovered motorcycles will be handed over to the respective owners soon.
