RAJSHAHI, June 6, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRC) has provided food packages to 400 more jobless and other helpless families to mitigate their livelihood related difficulties being caused by the global novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Each family was given a food package containing 7.5 kilograms of rice and one kilogram of pulse, edible oil, salt and sugar each and 500 grams of suji.

BDRC’s Rajshahi city unit organized the programme of distributing humanitarian support at Rajshahi Collegiate School playground on Saturday afternoon through maintaining social distancing and other protective measures to contain coronavirus spreading.

President of the city unit and Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton accompanied by its Vice president Rejaul Karim Raju and others concerned distributed the food aid.

Mayor Liton said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to cope with the present pandemic situation.

The government has been dispensing foodstuffs and cash money among the low-incoming and other hand-to-mouth families to mitigate their hardships being caused by the pandemic.

Earlier, the unit provided similar types of food packages to around 3,000 distressed families amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
