Budget prioritizes social security sector: Nuruzzaman

DHAKA, June 5, 2021 (BSS) – Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed today said that the social security sector has been given priority in the budget of 2021-22.

“The helpless people affected by the Corona epidemic will be brought under social security, so the social security sector has been given priority in the budget of 2021-22,” he said.

He said this while addressing the 46th Board Meeting of the Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council held online, said a press release.

The meeting was chaired by the minister and was attended by State Minister for Social Welfare M Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Mahfuza Akhtar and other members of the Board.

“The ministry of social welfare is working as per the directives of the prime minister to improve the quality of services. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is a name of trust to 160 million people of the country, as long as he lives, the people will give him the noble responsibility of running this country,” he said.

“The government has proved by increasing the allocation in the social security sector that it is sincere in implementing the promises made in the election manifesto to improve the living standards of the helpless people,” he added.

The State Minister for Social Welfare called upon all to expedite the activities of the Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council for the welfare of the destitute and helpless people.
