RAJSHAHI, June 5, 2021 (BSS)- A 100-bed designated corona hospital is going to be launched in Rajshahi in order to cope with the escalating trend of the Covid-19 spread at present.

The hospital will be launched at the existing century old building of Sadar Hospital after its necessary renovation.

There will be central oxygen services in the hospital, said Brig Gen Shameem Yazdani, Director of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), while talking to BSS here today.

“We have started taking necessary preparations to make the hospital fit for giving treatment to the Covid-19 patients,” he added.

He, however, said the hospital will be launched as soon as possible.

Brig Shameem Yazdani also said there are 232 beds for the Covid-19 patients in RMCH at present in addition to an 18-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“We are going to open another 32-bed ward for the Covid-19 patients in the RMCH within the next two days,” he said, adding works for installing oxygen lines in the ward are progressing fast.
