AL does politics for country, countrymen: Bahauddin Nasim
DHAKA, June 05, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim today said AL always does politics for the country and its people.
“We do not do politics for power. We want every person in Bangladesh to live in a well-balanced environment. That is why every leader and activist of the Awami League is doing politics for the people and the country with utmost devotion,” he said.
He said this while addressing a human chain in front of the High Court here on the occasion of World Environment Day at the initiative of Awami Swechchhasebak League.
It was the big responsibility of the political party not only to hold rallies but also to create awareness among the people and AL does so, he said.
He added that in order to protect the environment, all have to not only plant trees, but also prevent the black smoke created by the mills and vehicles.
People of all walks of life should be made aware to protect the environment of the country, he continued.
He said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu was the first to call for a green revolution in Bangladesh.
Not only self-sufficiency in food, Bangabandhu called for building the country beautifully through greening and afforestation, he said.
When Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, returned to the country in 1981, she gave importance to greening in order to maintain the balance of the country in spite of hundreds of adversities, he continued.
With Swechchhasebak League President Nirmal Ranjan Guha in the chair, the event was conducted by General Secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu.
Dhaka University pro vice-chancellor Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, Senior Vice-President of Swechchhasebak League Gazi Mezbahul Hossain Sachchu, Vice-Presidents M Abdur Razzak and Abdul Alim Bepari, Joint General Secretary Mobasher Chowdhury and Organizing Secretary Nafiul Karim Nafa also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
