Livestock demonstration fair held in Gobindaganj.
GAIBANDHA, June 5, 2021(BSS)-A fair on livestock demonstration was held on the premises of Gobindaganj upazila Parishad in the district today amid much enthusiasm .
Gobindaganj Upazila Livestock office arranged the demonstration under livestock and dairy development project under the Ministry of Fisheries and livestock .
The objective of the fair is to inspire the farmers to develop high yielding breeds of animals.
An inaugural function was also held at the auditorium of the upazila parishad on Saturday morning around 11 am with UNO Abu Sayeed in the chair.
Local law maker Engineer Monowar Hossain Chowdhury inaugurated the function joining from his residence in Dhaka virtually as the chief guest and upazila parishad chairman Abdul Latif Prodhan spoke at the function as the special guest.
Earlier, upazila livestock officer Biplob Dey delivered a welcome speech and thanked all for participating in the function spontaneously.
The function was also addressed among others by upazila senior fisheries officer Imran Hossain Chowdhury and journalist Gopal Mahanta.
The speakers underscored the need for boosting farming of cows, goats at larger scale so that the farmers could earn economic profit and meet the demand of protein in the country.
They also urged the educated youths of the upazila to come forward with positive attitude to set up poultry farms to become self-reliant economically not depending on the job of the government.
Later, the prizes were distributed among successful farmers of the upazila in the function.
Almost all the upazila level officials, social workers and enthusiastic farmers including journalists of print and electronic media attended the function.
Similar programmes were also held in other six upazila headquarters of the district today, said Dr. Md. Masudur Rahman, district livestock officer.
