Covid-19 cases reach 35, 742 in Khulna division, 31,753 cured

KHULNA, June 05, 2021(BSS) – With detection of 252 more positive cases in all 10 districts of the division on Friday, the total number of Covid-19 patients now hit 35,742 as 31,753 have been cured from the lethal virus infection.

“The recovery rate now stands at 88.83 percent,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS, adding that the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 35,742 in the division with 252 new positive cases were reported after testing 466 samples at the Khulna Medical College Laboratory and others two respective Covid-19 laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 89 were detected in Satkhira, followed by 88 in Khulna, 37 in Kustia, 18 in Jashore, seven in Chuadanga, six each in Bagerhat, and Jhenidah, one in Meherpur districts.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients now stands at 10,593 in Khulna, 7,224 in Jashore, 5,133 in Kustia, 2,947

in Jhenaidah, 2,058 in Chuadanga, 1,898 in Narail, 1,848 in Satkhira, 1,718 in Bagerhat1,272 in Magura and 1,051 in Meherpur, she added.

“Among the total 35,742 coronavirus infected people, 4,620 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 31,753 have now been recovered and 666 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi continued.

While Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities stands at 666 in the division while six more deaths were reported from Khulna, Chuadanga, Kustia and Jhenidah districts during the past 24 hours.

The district-wise break-up of the total fatalities now stands at 179 in Khulna, 119 in Kustia, 81 in Jashore, 64 in Chuadanga, 57, in Jhenaidah, 47 in Satkhira, 46 in Bagerhat, 27 in Narail, 23 each in Magura and Meherpur.

“The average casualty rate is over 1.86 percent in the division,” she mentioned.

On the other hand, a total of 115 more people have, so far, been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 117 were released in all the 10 districts of the division in the last 24 hours till 12 noon today.

A total of 78,104 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 78,219 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period and 63,641 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division.
