Covid-19 cases reach 53,863 with 110 new infections in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, June 4, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 110 more people were tested positive for Covid-19 after testing 798 samples in the last 24 hours at eight COVID-19 laboratories in the district till Thursday evening, climbing the number of infections to 53,863.
According to the hospital sources, the infection rate is 13.78 percent during the period.
The daily new infection figure shows a slight reduced compared to the previous day’s figure of 112, but the recovery rate declining gradually in the district in recent weeks,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chatogram, told BSS today.
Among the infected patients, 65 are from Chattogram city and 45 from different upazilas of the district.
The health expert of Chattogram urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks due to continuous increasing in Corona infections here.
With no death on Thursday the number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in Chattogram stands at 626, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said.
Among the reported fatalities, 447 were the residents of the port city and the rest 179 were from different upazilas of the district, he said.
Among the total 53,863 Coronavirus infected people, 42,831 are the residents of the port city and the rest 11,033 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district, he continued.
“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 41,827 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 374 more patients on Thursday,” the health official said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 77.72.
A total of 5876 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, he mentioned.
