Virtual desk introduced at BD embassy in London to boost business of IT companies

DHAKA, June 04, 2021 (BSS) – To attract investment in the country’s IT sector and to increase the business relationship of UK IT companies with local IT companies, a virtual desk titled ‘Bangladesh IT Connect-UK Desk’ (bhcl.itconnect.gov.bd) was launched at the Bangladesh Embassy in London.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the virtual desk on Thursday last in a virtual programme, a press release said here today.

The Bangladesh IT Connect-UK Desk, a joint venture of the Leveraging ICT (LICT) Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under ICT Division and the Bangladesh High Commission in London, is a Bangladesh-UK B2B IT connectivity hub, the release added.

The desk will play an important role in bringing business connections of UK-IT companies with the Bangladesh IT companies, arranging interviews and bringing investment from the UK to the country.

The inaugural ceremony was conducted virtually by Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK) Saida Muna Tasneem.

Later, a discussion titled ‘Bangladesh and UK at 50: Forging a Digital Economy Partnership’ held online there.

British Foreign and Development Office (FCDO) Minister for South Asia and Commonwealth Lord Tariq Ahmed, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak and President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) Syed Almas Kabir attended it, among others.
