Covid-19 cases reach 35,490 in Khulna division, 31,693 cured

KHULNA, June 4, 2021(BSS) – With detection of 377 more positive cases in all 10 districts of the division on Thursday, the total number of Covid-19 infected patients now hit 35,490 as 31,693 have been cured from the lethal virus infection.

“The recovery rate now stands at 89.30 percent,” Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS, adding that the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 35,490 in the division with 377 new positive cases were reported after testing 466 samples at the Khulna Medical College Labratory and others two respective Covid-19 laboratories during the last 24 hours till this noon.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 89 were detected in Khulna followed by 51 in Chuadanga, 49 in Satkhira, 43 in Bagerhat, 34 in Kustia, 15 in Jhenidah, 12 in Meherpur, eight in Narail and six in Magura districts in the division.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients now stands at 10,505 in Khulna, 7,206 in Jashore, 5,096 in Kushtia, 2,941 in Jhenaidah, 2,051 in Chuadanga, 1,898 in Narail, 1,712 in Bagerhat, 1,759 in Satkhira, 1,272 in Magura and 1,050 in Meherpur, she mentioned.

“Among the total 35,490 coronavirus infected people, 4,579 are undergoing treatment at isolation units in different hospitals as 31,693 have recovered and 660 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi continued.

While Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities now stands at 660 in the division while five more death cases were reported in the division during the last 24 hours.

The district-wise break-up of the total fatalities now stands at 177 in Khulna, 118 in Kushtia, 81 in Jashore, 62 in Chuadanga, 55, in Jhenaidah, 47 in Satkhira, 43 in Bagerhat, 27 in Narail, 23 each in Magura and Meherpur.

“The average casualty rate among all 35,490 Covid-19 positive cases now stands at over 1.87 percent in the division,” Dr. Rasheda Sultana mentioned.

On the other hand, a total of 123 more people have now been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 105 were released in all the 10 districts of the division in the last 24 hours till 12 noon today.

A total of 78,104 people had, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19), hospital sources said.

Of them, 77,202 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period and 63,597 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division, the sources added.
