372 more people test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 4, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 372 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 afresh in all eight districts of the division on Thursday, climbing the number of infections to 37,034.

The daily new infection figure shows a slight declining trend compared to the previous day’s figure of 378, said the health department sources.

“Among the infected people, 31,775 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 79 new recoveries found during that time,” said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.

He added that a total of 3,973 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 8,657 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 7,317 have by now been released.

On the other hand, 161 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantined afresh while 90 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

The number of deaths from the disease stands at 581, including 317 in Bogura and 90 in Rajshahi with 57 in its city, while four more fatalities reported afresh today, Dr Talukder added.
Of the total new positive cases, the highest 118 were detected in Rajshahi, including 84 in its city, followed by 109 in Chapainawabganj, 37 in Natore, 36 in Joypurhat, 24 in Naogaon, 19 in Pabna, 15 in Bogura and 14 in Sirajganj districts.

With the new detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 9,428 in Rajshahi, including 7,623 in its city, 2,273 in Chapainawabganj, 2,361 in Naogaon, 1,838 in Natore, 1,869 in Joypurhat, 12,343 in Bogura, 3,740 in Sirajganj and 3,182 in Pabna.

A total of 73,697 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 71,663 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

Meanwhile, a total of 4,08,830 people received second doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the city and eight districts of Rajshahi division since the nationwide second dose vaccination began on April 8.

Of them, 830 people including 319 female took the second dose of jab in two districts of the division on Thursday, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, told BSS.

He said 20 including 11 female in Chapainawabganj and 810 people including 308 female in Bogura received the vaccines on the day.
