EMBANKMENT-GOBINDAGANJ
6-km long embankment being built in Gobindaganj
GAIBANDHA, June 4, 2021 (BSS) – A 6-km stretch embankment is being constructed at the left side of the Bangali river under Gobindaganj upazila in the district.
Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is implementing the work from Baradaha to Harirampur at the cost of TK 1 crore to save the crop lands and dwellings from flood.
Executive engineer of LGED Ahsan Kabir told BSS that over 80 percent work of the embankment had already been completed and the rest work would be finished by June 30.
On completion of the work, the people living on the river bank and crops would be protected, he said.
The local people expressed their gratefulness to the LGED and thanked the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for initiative of building the embankment aimed at saving their houses and crops from flood.
