57 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 3, 2021 (BSS) – Fifty-seven more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

“The 57 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 15.16 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 57 new patients diagnosed today, 18 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 18 new patients include eight from Rangpur, four Lalmonirhat, three from Kurigram, two from Gaibandha and one Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 8:40 pm.

On the other hand, 39 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 39 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 32 from and seven from Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told tonight.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients reached 19,220 as 57 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 19,220 patients currently stands at 5,047 in Rangpur, 844 in Panchagarh, 1,586 in Nilphamari, 1,097 in Lalmonirhat, 1,238 in Kurigram, 1,713 in Thakurgaon, 5,925 in Dinajpur and 1,771 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
