Comprehensive efforts stressed to combat COVID-19 epidemic

RANGPUR, June 3, 2021 (BSS) – Comprehensive efforts of everyone are crucial in promoting the urgency of wearing masks, abiding by the health directives, personal hygiene and healthy behaviour to face the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Health experts and officials opined this at the awareness and expertise raising event organized by Saidpur upazila administration at its hall room in Saidpur upazila town of Nilphamari district on Wednesday afternoon.

The training course was arranged abiding by the health directives in collaboration with the Upazila Governance and Development Project (UGDP) of the Local Government Department and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Upazila and union level physicians, nurses, health workers and community health care providers (CHCP), public representatives, teachers, Imams and journalists participated in the event.

The event was arranged to raise expertise of the participants in reaching the Covid-19 awareness raising messages to people on health awareness, care of infected patients, personal care and reproductive health of pregnant and lactating mothers.

Saidpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nasim Ahmed attended the training course as the chief guest with Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Abu Md Alemul Bashar in the chair.

Medical Officers of Saidpur Upazila Health Complex Dr. Tanzina Rahman, Dr Sabdin Jahan and Dr. Chandrima Roy and Medical Technologist (EPI) Md Abu Taher Siddiqui, Imams and local journalists addressed the event.

The speakers said officials, physicians, nurses, public representatives, Imams, journalists and community leaders have already proven how efficiently they can reach communities with critical awareness messages to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

They called upon all concerned for playing crucial roles through expressively talking about coughing and sneezing etiquette, social distancing and messages on quarantine and isolation during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The chief guest urged everyone to communicate with people and help communities through providing right information and moral motivation during the Covid-19 pandemic to prevent the spread of the deadly virus during the second wave.

“Everyone should play a crucial role in promoting the urgency of wearing masks, abiding by the health directives, personal hygiene and healthy behaviour to face the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, remain safe and keep others safe,” he added.
