74 more reported Covid-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 2, 2021 (BSS) – Seventy-four more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

“The 74 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 19.68 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 74 new patients diagnosed today, 28 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 28 new patients include 16 from Rangpur, three each from Kurigram and Lalmonirhat and two each from Gaibandha, Dinajpur and Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:15 pm.

On the other hand, 46 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 46 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 37 from, seven from Thakurgaon and two from Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain said.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients reached 19,159 as 74 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 19,159 patients currently stands at 5,037 in Rangpur, 844 in Panchagarh, 1,585 in Nilphamari, 1,095 in Lalmonirhat, 1,235 in Kurigram, 1,697 in Thakurgaon, 5,897 in Dinajpur and 1,769 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
