RAJSHAHI, June 1, 2021 (BSS)- Some 165 cultural personalities hardest-hit by the adverse impact of the Covid-19 pandemic have received financial support as the Prime Minister’s gift in a ceremony in Rajshahi to cope with the pandemic situation.
They received the cheques of the financial support worth about Taka 14.29 lakh at a ceremony hosted by the district administration at Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Monday afternoon.
Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Dr Humayun Kabir accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil and Senior Vice-president of Rajshahi city unit of Bangladesh Awami League Shaheen Akter Rainy distributed the cheques among them.
Dr Humayun Kabir said the contribution of the cultural persons is very significant to nation-building activities. So, the present government has been working relentlessly for their welfare.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is culturally friendly so she has brought most of the professional bodies including cultural personalities and other artists under financial support as part of her relentless efforts to deal with the pandemic situation, he said.
“Development programmes have started becoming visible throughout the country,” Dr Kabir also said, adding that the financial assistance will contribute a lot towards enhancing the level of confidence of the recipients as the Prime Minister by herself stands beside them with a helping hand.
He mentioned that the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been attaining successes in various development indexes despite the adverse impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
