Booters go through good recovery session in Doha

DHAKA, May 31, 2021 (BSS)- The Bangladesh national football team, now staying in Doha to play their FIFA World Cup Qualifiers matches, went through a good recovery session this morning at the team’s hotel, according to a message received here from Bangladesh Football Federation.

The national booters, split into two groups, took part in a gym and swimming session which lasted for two hours. Jamal Bhuyan and co. have no scheduled training session in the afternoon.

The Bangladesh national football team must be boosted with the presence of midfielder Mohammad Ibrahim, who is expected to join the national team’s training session tomorrow (Tuesday). Ibrahim already left Dhaka today for Doha to join the Bangladesh national team.

Defender Topu Barman said they had a gym and swimming pool in the hotel and it’s very important for their recovery. He said the team has no scheduled practice session today afternoon.

He said they would try to perform match by match in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Topu said Mohammad Ibrahim would join them tomorrow (Tuesday)and his presence would surely motivate them before the big match against Afghanistan.

The defender said they are quite serious and motivated for their qualifiers matches.

Midfielder Sohel Rana said they are giving full concentration for their first match against Afghanistan scheduled to be held on June 3.

Sohel said: “We have got some idea about Afghanistan who recently played a friendly match and we have tried to find out their weak and strong points from the match ……. we hoped that we’ll be able to bring out a positive result giving our best effort against Afghanistan.

National football team’s assistant coach Stuart Watkiss said the booters went through a good recovery session after they trained hard yesterday (Sunday) afternoon under the very warm temperature.

He said they are looking forward to the Afghanistan match and they have two more training sessions before the big match. The boys are taking good preparation for the match.

Watkiss also expressed his firm optimism to get a good result against Afghanistan.

The Bangladesh national football team will have their training session tomorrow at Qatar University ground from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm (Bangladesh time).

Meanwhile, all the players and staff of the team are again tested negative after their second COVID-19 test.

According to the fixtures of the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers, Bangladesh will play against Afghanistan, India and Oman on June 3, 7 and 15 respectively.
