41 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 31, 2021 (BSS) – Forty-one more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

“The 41 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 10.11 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 41 new patients diagnosed today, 20 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 20 new patients include nine from Rangpur, two each from Kurigram and Gaibandha, six from Lalmonirhat and one from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7 pm.

On the other hand, 21 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 21 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 17 from and two each from Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain said.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients reached 18,991 as 41 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 18,991 patients currently stands at 4,996 in Rangpur, 840 in Panchagarh, 1,580 in Nilphamari, 1,084 in Lalmonirhat, 1,221 in Kurigram, 1,681 in Thakurgaon, 5,823 in Dinajpur and 1,766 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
