RCC to construct new multistoried building for new market
RAJSHAHI, May 31, 2021 (BSS) – Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has taken a decision to construct a new multistoried building for Rajshahi New Market aimed at infusing more dynamism into Rajshahi city’s business sector.
Built on six bighas of land in the early sixties, the existing two-storied building has become dilapidated and outdated creating an embarrassing situation for both the sellers and buyers. So, the city corporation, in principle, has decided to construct a new building to ensure a comfortable situation for all concerned.
City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton revealed this while addressing a view-sharing meeting with businessmen of new market and hawkers market at city bhaban conference hall on Sunday afternoon.
“We are planning to construct the new building as an iconic tower in North Bengal,” Liton said, seeking wholehearted cooperation of the businessmen to implement the project successfully.
Besides, he said the new market and hawkers market businessmen will be rehabilitated temporarily in the newly built Daruchini Plaza until the new building is constructed.
As a whole, the city people will get a new and planned commercial hub upon successful completion of construction works of the proposed building, he added.
Panel Mayors Shariful Islam Babu and Rajab Ali, Ward Councilors Nizam Ul Azim and Abdul Hamid Sarker, Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharif Uddin and Chief Engineer Shariful Islam were present at the meeting.
