Wife, lover confess killing husband over illicit relation
DHAKA, May 30, 2021 (BSS) – Two accused in a case lodged over the killing of one Azharul and cutting his body into six pieces in the capital’s Dakshinkhan area, today confessed their role in the gruesome crime before two separate courts.
Victim’s wife Asma Akter and her lover and imam of a local mosque Mawlana Abdur Rahman gave confessional statements before the courts of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Dhiman Chandra Mandal and Abu Sufian Md Noman, respectively.
Earlier on May 26, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Nivana Khayer Jessy placed the duo on five-day remand each.
Mawlana Abdur Rahman, imam of Dakshinkhan Sardar Para Mosque, used to visit RMG worker Azharul’s house daily to teach Arabic to him and his son, and got engaged in an illicit relation with Azharul’s wife Asma.
Sensing the relation, Azharul asked the mawlana not to come anymore. At one stage, Asma planned the murder of her husband and asked her lover to execute the killing.
As part of their plan, Asma refused to come with Azharul from their Tangail village home after Eid and forced him to return to Dhaka alone on May 18. On May 19, Abdur Rahman called Azharul to visit the mosque to discuss something. Taking Azharul to his room in the mosque complex, Rahman suddenly attacked the victim with a machete and killed him. He then cut Azharul’s body into six pieces.
Rashid dumped the body pieces into the mosque septic tank.
