BEPZA, BEZA sign agreement to expedite works in BEPZA economic zone

DHAKA, May 30, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) today signed an agreement to expedite development works in BEPZA Economic Zone at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar, Mirsharai, Chattogram.

BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Md Nazrul Islam and Executive Chairman of BEZA Paban Chowdhury signed the agreement at a city hotelon behalf of their respective sides, said a press release.

Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus was present as the chief guest in the signing ceremony.

Among others, Senior Secretary of Local Government Division Helal Uddin Ahmed, high officials of Prime Minister’s Office, BEPZA and BEZA including local and foreign investors were present in the programme.

It is mentionable that the development works of BEPZA Economic Zone on 1150 acres of land at Mirsharai, Chattogram is progressing very fast.

The development works of the zone will be expedited by signing this agreement and it will be possible to allot industrial plots to the investors very soon.

It will also accelerate the flow of investment in the country.

After implementation of the whole project, about 350 industries will be set up in 539 industrial plots. This will create employment opportunities for about four lakh people and attract investment of about $ four billion.
