52 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 30, 2021 (BSS) – Fifty-two more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

“The 52 new cases were reported after diagnosing 314 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 16.56 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 56 new patients diagnosed today, 16 were reported positive after diagnosing 126 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 16 new patients include 14 from Rangpur, and one each from Kurigram and Lalmonirhat districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 6:40 pm.

On the other hand, 36 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 36 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 35 from different frontier upazilas of Dinajpur and one from Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain said.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients reached 18,943 as 52 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 18,943 patients currently stands at 4,987 in Rangpur, 838 in Panchagarh, 1,579 in Nilphamari, 1,078 in Lalmonirhat, 1,218 in Kurigram, 1,673 in Thakurgaon, 5,808 in Dinajpur and 1,762 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
