Bangladesh bowl first to whitewash Sri Lanka

DHAKA, May 28, 2021 (BSS)- Sri Lankan Captain Kusal Perera won the toss and elected to bat first in the third and final ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

Bangladesh is eying to sweep the series following their 33-run and 103-run win by DLS method in the first two matches.

The visitors are desperate to avoid the whitewash. They made four changes to the side–three of them making an ODI debut– in a game crucial for them.

The three debutants are Ramesh Mendis, Chamika Karunaratne and Binura Fernando while Niroshan Dickwella came back to the side as wicket-keeper.

Dasun Shanaka, Isuru Udana, Lakshan Sandakan and Ashen Bandara were left out from the squad that lost the first match by 33 runs and conceded a 103-run defeat by DLS method in the second game.

After winning their first bilateral series victory against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh brought up two changes. Naim Sheikh replaced out-of-form Liton Das who made just 91 runs in the last eight matches.
Allrounder Mohammad Saifuddin who was hit on his helmet by a Dushmantha Chameera’s delivery in the second game was rested. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who was replaced as first concussion sub in the ODI cricket, retained his place.

The toss was held 15 minutes after the scheduled time following a spell of showers.
