The media has important role in building better Bangladesh: Farhad

DHAKA, 27 May, 2021 (BSS)- State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said the role of media in the overall development of the country is immense and for that reason, the media can play an important role in building a better Bangladesh.

The state minister said this while addressing an online seminar titled ‘Bangabandhu and Liberation War of Bangladesh in the Eyes of International Media’ organized by the Ministry of Public Administration on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said a release here.

The state minister said, “The media has played a leading role in highlighting the overall events of the great liberation war in 1971 to the world and in shaping public opinion in favor of this country. Even after independence, the media is working to present the development and image of this country to the world.”

Mentioning that the goal of the government is to make the country a developed and prosperous country by 2041, the minister urged the media to play a vital role in the upcoming days.

Sir William Mark Tully, former bureau chief of the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) in New Delhi, presented the keynote address.

Thanking him, the state minister said, “Sir Mark Tully is our true friend. People remember with gratitude his contribution in the great liberation war of this country.”

The state minister then invited Sir Mark Tully to visit Bangladesh.

Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Chief Coordinator of the National Implementation Committee for the Celebration of the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and former Ambassador M Humayun Kabir participated in the discussion.

KM Ali Azam, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration delivered the welcome address.
