38 more reported Covid-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 26, 2021 (BSS) – Thirty-eight more people were
diagnosed with coronavirus positive today in Rangpur division where
the infection rate is showing a rising trend again during the last one
week.

“The 38 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at the
two Covid-19 Laboratories at the infection rate of 10.11 percent
today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 38 new patients diagnosed today, 15 were reported positive
after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur
Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 15 new patients include nine from Rangpur, two from Kurigram,
three from Lalmonirhat and one from Dinajpur districts,” Principal of
RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:10 pm.

On the other hand, 23 other new infected patients were reported
after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur
Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 23 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 18 from Dinajpur,
four from Thakurgaon and one from Nilphamari districts,” said
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19
patients reached 18,779 as 38 new positive cases were reported today
from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 18,779 patients currently stands at
4,935 in Rangpur, 838 in Panchagarh, 1,571 in Nilphamari, 1,075 in
Lalmonirhat, 1,210 in Kurigram, 1,663 in Thakurgaon, 5,733 in Dinajpur
and 1,753 in Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
