50 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 25, 2021 (BSS) – Fifty more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate is showing a rising trend again during the last one week.

“The 50 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at the two Covid-19 Laboratories at the infection rate of 13.30 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 50 new patients diagnosed today, 30 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 30 new patients include 17 from Rangpur, two each from Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari and seven from Kurigram districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 6:55 pm.

On the other hand, 20 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“All of the 20 newly infected Covid-19 patients are hailing from different areas in Dinajpur district alone,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients reached 18,738 as 50 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 18,738 patients currently stands at 4,926 in Rangpur, 838 in Panchagarh, 1,569 in Nilphamari, 1,071 in Lalmonirhat, 1,208 in Kurigram, 1,659 in Thakurgaon, 5,717 in Dinajpur and 1,750 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
