Shoriful makes debut as Bangladesh bat 1st in 2nd ODI

DHAKA, May 25, 2021 (BSS)- In a bid to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series, Bangladesh Captain Tamim Iqbal opted to bat first after winning the toss in the second consecutive time at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

The hosts, aiming to win the series with a game to spare, brought up two changes to the squad.

They handed debut to left arm fast bowler Shoriful Islam, who replaced Taskin Ahmed while all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain came in the place of Mohammad Mithun.

Bangladesh won the first game by 33 runs after surviving a Wanindu Hasaranga scare who blasted a 60 ball-74 after Sri Lanka was left to a tricky 149-7.

In its must win game to keep the three-match series alive, Sri Lanka remained unchanged.

The series is important for both teams with qualification to the 2023 World Cup in mind.
