No place for fundamentalism in Bangladesh, speakers say

RANGPUR, July 23, 2018 (BSS) – Public representatives and Sanaton
community leaders at a discussion here have said there is no place for
fundamentalism, fanaticism, militancy and terrorism in Bangladesh.

“Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony and people of all faiths
live here altogether in peace and brotherhood,” said Panel Mayor of Rangpur
Alhaj Mahmudur Rahman Titu while addressing the discussion as the chief
guest.

Taraganj unit of International Society for Krishna Consciousness
(ISKCON) Bangladesh organised the discussion at Dharmoshava Mandir before
pulling rope of the ‘Ulto Ratha’ to conclude nine-day celebrations of the
Shree Shree Jagannathdeb’s Ratha Yatra on Sunday afternoon.

Thousands of the Sanaton devotees participated in the ‘Ulto Ratha Yatra’
from Dharmoshava Mandir to Pak Para Mandir here to end the celebrations amid
huge festivities, religious fervour and solemnity.

The nine-day programmes included ‘Ratha Yatra’, ‘Agnihotro Jaggya’,
‘Sangkirton’, discussion on Jagannathdeb’s ‘Leela Mahattya’, prayers,
‘Mohaharinam Sangkirton’, Shree Shree Jagannathdeb’s ‘Raj Bhog’, ‘Bhagabotiyo
discussions, ‘Ulto Ratha Yatra’, distribution of ‘Moha Prasad’ and cultural
functions.

With Vice-president of Taraganj unit of ISKCON Bangladesh Shreeman
Sanaton Atma Choitannya Das in the chair, Additional Superintendent of Police
(Circle-A) Saifur Rahman Saif addressed the discussion as special guest.

President of Tazhat unit of ISKCON Bangladesh and General Secretary of
district unit of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad (BPUP) Dhiman Bhattacharya,
BPUP’s city unit General Secretary Mukul Sarker, President of Mahiganj
Poreshnath Mandir Ram Krishna Somani, General Secretary of Kalibari Mandir
Ajoy Prasad Babon and General Secretary of Dharmoshava Mandir Partho Bose,
among others, spoke.

The speakers said Bangladesh belongs to the Muslims, Hindus, Christians,
Buddhists and people of other faiths and everyone should stand firmly like
that in 1971 to resist the anti-liberation forces, fundamentalist extremism,
militancy and terrorism.

The chief guest said, “Bangladesh has set up a clear example of communal
harmony and people of all faiths are living friendly on this soil and working
unitedly for national progress on way to build a developed country.”
